My Mother-in-law was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  We were told she only had months to live and there were no treatments that would help her.  My Father-in-law took her to a clinic in Texas for an alternative therapy.  The cost was $8000 per month.  He asked my husband and I to do a house flip to raise money for her, he was a builder, we thought we could trust him.  My husband was very close to his Mother and was the only boy of 4 children.  He would have done anything to save her.  My Father-in-law's credit was bad, so we had to put the house in our name.  He had the work planned out, and it was only supposed to cost $20k which was all the money we had in the world.

The work actually cost about $90k, this house literally should have been condemned.  My MIL passed away before we even got it completed.  The real estate market in Michigan is terrible and we were unable to sell the house.  2 months after my MIL passed away my FIL met a new woman, moved in with her, and married her 6 weeks later.  He abandoned us with the whole thing.  We are now stuck with the house and the bills for the $90k of improvements.  We are also trying to maintain the payments on our primary home.  I'm a mortgage professional and lost my job in March along with 1000's of other people in the business.  I can't find a job, we are drowning, and we have 2 kids (ages 8,2).  We are very close to bankruptcy and losing it all.  This is a new position for us since we have always been the ones to help out friends and family.  We really need to get on our feet.  Any help you can provide would be so greatly appreciated.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I hope to be helping people again one day, and I will come back here to do it.
